Weather

Weather

Clear skies, rain, thunder, snow, and the moon all change small parts of Minecraft life.

Clear Weather

  • Clear weather is the easiest time for building, filling maps, traveling, and working around farms.
  • Daylight can burn some hostile mobs such as zombies and skeletons, making morning cleanup easier.
  • Bees are easier to observe and manage during clear days because they move between flowers and nests more reliably.

Rain

  • Rain darkens the sky and can leave danger in shaded places even during daytime.
  • Fishing is a little better during rain, so rainy days are good for fish, name tags, and enchanted books.
  • Rain can put out outdoor fire, which can help around forests and wooden builds.
  • Deserts, savannas, and other dry biomes do not show rain the same way, so the sky can feel different depending on where you are.

Snow

  • Cold biomes can get snow instead of rain.
  • Snow layers can change the look of the ground and hide small details, paths, or low markers.
  • Powder snow is especially dangerous because you can sink into it. Leather boots help you walk over it safely.

Thunder

  • Thunderstorms can bring lightning, fire risk, and sudden danger around wooden builds or forests.
  • Lightning rods help protect builds by attracting lightning to a safer place.
  • Lightning can create special mob changes such as charged creepers. They are interesting, but very dangerous up close.
  • A trident with Channeling has special use during thunderstorms, so stormy weather can become part of late-game plans.

Moon Phases

  • The night sky has moon phases, from full moon to new moon.
  • In swamps, slimes are affected by the moon phase: they are easier near full moon and do not spawn at new moon.
  • Moon phases can help you decide when to look for slimeballs or plan night material gathering.

Planning Around Weather

  • If the weather makes travel unsafe, switch to indoor work, mining, storage sorting, or sleeping through the night.
  • Rain is a nice time for fishing, clear weather is better for bees and mapping, and thunderstorms are when lightning rods and special mob checks matter.
  • Commands can change weather, but in survival play, treating weather as a schedule can make the world feel more alive.
Weather and moon phases look small, but they affect fishing, bees, mobs, lightning safety, and night planning.
