What You Need
- Prepare a Splash Potion of Weakness or an Arrow of Weakness. The splash potion is usually the easiest method once you can brew.
- Prepare one Golden Apple for each zombie villager you want to cure.
- Build a safe roofed room before starting. The room should block sunlight, prevent escape, and keep other hostile mobs out.
Steps
- Move the zombie villager into the safe room. Use doors, trapdoors, boats, minecarts, or blocks so you can control the space without getting hit too much.
- Apply Weakness first, then use the Golden Apple while the Weakness effect is active.
- The zombie villager will shake for a while, then turn back into a villager. The sound and color change are useful confirmation.
- After curing, keep the villager safe until you are ready to assign a job or move them into your trading area.
Why It Helps
- Cured villagers can offer cheaper trades, which is especially valuable for librarians, toolsmiths, armorers, and farmers.
- Saving an important villager can protect a village project from one unlucky night.
- Curing can also turn a dangerous mistake into progress: the same villager may become part of a better trading hall later.
Be Careful
- Depending on difficulty, a villager may die instead of becoming a zombie villager. Do not rely on conversion unless you understand the risk in that world.
- Add a roof so sunlight does not burn the zombie villager before the cure finishes.
- Light the room and close gaps so other hostile mobs cannot join in during the cure.
- Name tags or careful containment can help when you need time to gather supplies, but the safest plan is to prepare everything first.
Curing is strongest when you plan the room before the emergency: roof, light, door control, Weakness, and a Golden Apple.
