Where to Find Them
- Frogs naturally appear around swamps and mangrove swamps.
- Hold a slimeball and frogs will follow you, which helps when moving them into a pen or toward water.
- Frogs have three looks: temperate, cold, and warm. The climate where the tadpole grows up decides the adult color.
- Because swamps can be dark and wet, bring food, a bed, and blocks if you are collecting frogs at night.
Breeding
- Feed slimeballs to two frogs to breed them.
- They lay frogspawn on water, which later hatches into tadpoles.
- Frogspawn needs water space, so do not cover the surface or place it where mobs and terrain make the area unsafe.
- You can move tadpoles with a water bucket, which is the best way to raise different frog colors in different climates.
Raising Tadpoles
- Tadpoles need water and are unsafe on land for too long.
- The biome where a tadpole grows up decides the frog color, so choose the destination before it matures.
- Feeding slimeballs can speed up tadpole growth a little.
- Keep tadpoles away from axolotls and other hazards. A small protected pond is easier than an open swamp.
Froglights
- When a frog eats a small magma cube, it drops a froglight.
- The froglight color depends on the frog variant, so raising different frog colors gives different light blocks.
- If you bring frogs to the Nether, build a safe pen before starting. Protect them from lava, large magma cubes, and open drops.
- A controlled magma cube area makes froglight farming much safer than chasing mobs in the open Nether.
Frogs are cute, but they also connect swamp exploring, careful breeding, biome planning, and beautiful light blocks.
